On Wednesday, April 16, RAI Founder and President, Ryan O'Donoghue, and close friend, Matt Darlington skied 60 runs each in the 19th Annual Enduro at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.
With the support from RAI sponsors (see below), Matt and Ryan were determined to rise above the extremely challenging ski conditions, accomplishing their goals of skiing over 100,000 vertical feet each during the 10 hour race. Conditions changed from ice and hard-packed snow in the morning to whiteout snowstorms in the afternoon. Despite these challenges and against the odds, RAI skiers rallied to the occasion, hitting their 60 run goal with 5 minutes to spare.
More importantly, the RAI team exceeded its fundraising goal reaching $3,900 in total proceeds!
Special thanks to the Enduro Angels, Jackie McNamara and Patti Koller. Without your personal attention on the day of the race, 60 runs would not have been possible.
Another strong turnout with a variety of new faces is evidence of the growing network of supporters putting forth great effort in the fight against cancer. At full capacity, those in attendance experienced nothing but smiles, laughter and love - a genuine tribute to RAI's founder and inspiration, Colin O'Donoghue.
Event proceeds of $10,000 will be used to benefit adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer patients.
Special thanks to Cleveland Browns' Dave Zastudil #15 - thanks to his support, 100% of individual contributions will go directly AYAs patients.
On October 12, 2007, Dave Zastudil of the Cleveland Browns paid a visit to Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.
Pediatric cancer patients, Brandon Och and Ge'Rhett Fletcher, had the opportunity to spend some time and meet with the former Bay Village High School and Ohio University standout two days before the Cleveland Browns went on to beat the Miami Dolphins 41-31.
Zastudil's visit was made possible by Rise Above It (RAI)
Thanks to the overwhelming support from RAI's network of supporters and corporate sponsors, the RAI 3rd Annual Golf Outing was another eagle in the fight against cancer. 124 golfers participated in the event, and the total proceeds reached over $13,000. This nearly tripled last year's goal! These proceeds will be used to directly impact the lives of young adult cancer patients and their families as they continue to fight this disease. Please take a moment to view the slide shows highlighting our corporate sponsors and this year's golfers.
On April 18, RAI founder Ryan O'Donoghue and close friends Andrew Darlington, Matt Darlington and Patrick Flanagan skied a combined total of 220 runs in the 18th Annual Enduro at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area – that's more than 100 vertical miles! With your overwhelming support, the teams were determined to reach their competition and fund-raising goals. Total proceeds of $5,400 were raised, 100% of which will be used to directly impact the lives of young adults battling cancer.
Special thanks to Heather Darlington and Heather Flanagan. Without their personal attention on the day of the event 220 would not have been possible.
